The Postgraduate Program in Pathology, in the form of an Academic Master's Degree, was approved in 1991, with Concept CAPES 4. The area of ​​concentration is Pathology, counting on two lines of research: Oncology and Infectious Diseases. The program is made up of 16 permanent professors and 6 associates. Of these, two are CNPQ PQ researchers.

The Postgraduate Program in Pathology has the following objectives:
1 - Train teachers and researchers in the health area;
2 - Develop skills for formation of research groups;
3 - To strengthen lines of research with a focus on morphological alterations, pathogenic mechanisms, immunological response, diagnosis, therapeutics and transmission of diseases, according to the following research lines: infectious diseases and oncology.

The main target audience of the course are the health professionals of the North and Northeast regions of Brazil. Until March 2016 the course titled 199 masters. Most graduates are linked to public and private universities in the region, developing activities as undergraduate and postgraduate professors, some of them being responsible for research laboratories in the State of Ceará or in other states, one in the Organization Pan American Health Organization, another in the Ministry of Health.
